GRID-ON-DEMAND has launched its first demonstration project for a mobile battery storage solution designed to power forklift fleets in warehouses with limited utility capacity.
The lithium battery-powered generator provides a flexible alternative to costly utility upgrades, offering a cost-effective and sustainable solution for industrial facilities.
The demo system, deployed at a Seattle forklift dealership, features an 85-kilowatt (kW) storage capacity and supports multiple forklift chargers with a total output of up to 50 kW. It charges using any available power source, with the current setup drawing 10 kW from a 480 VAC three-phase outlet.
Addressing Forklift Fleet Electrification Challenges
Warehouse operators transitioning to electric forklifts often face expensive and time-consuming utility upgrades. GRID-ON-DEMAND’s portable solution can be deployed within days, aligning with new forklift and charger installations.
Designed for intermittent power use, the system is economically viable for fleets as small as 10 forklifts, with savings increasing for larger operations.
A 30-forklift fleet using 16-kW chargers could reduce demand charges by up to $7,680 per month by charging the battery system during off-peak hours and avoiding peak-demand rates.
Efficiency, Reliability, and Sustainability
Built for warehouse environments, the system has a compact design that maximizes energy density while minimizing space requirements. It incorporates tested components to ensure safety and long-term performance.
By eliminating the need for expensive utility upgrades and reducing demand charges, GRID-ON-DEMAND’s solution lowers the total cost of ownership for electric forklift fleets.
It also supports sustainability initiatives by enabling the transition to electric forklifts, which reduce carbon emissions compared to internal combustion models.
Scalability and Future Goals
The system is adaptable to different facility needs, capable of supporting small and large fleet operations.
It charges from various power sources and stores energy for later use, helping operators optimize energy consumption and costs.
“We’re thrilled to launch our first demo project and showcase the potential of our mobile battery-powered generator,” Tim Karimov, founder and president of GRID-ON-DEMAND said.
“This solution is a game-changer for warehouse operators looking to electrify their forklift fleets without the burden of costly utility upgrades. We’re proud to offer a product that not only delivers economic benefits but also supports sustainability goals.”
Founded in 2024 by Karimov, GRID-ON-DEMAND focuses on mobile battery storage solutions for industrial applications. The company aims to provide cost-effective, flexible energy storage options to support businesses in transitioning to cleaner and more efficient operations.
