Hyster Expands High-Capacity Electric Forklift Lineup for Heavy-Duty Applications

Hyster has expanded its lineup of high-capacity electric forklifts, designed to deliver configurable solutions for demanding industries while offering a zero-emission alternative to internal combustion engine (ICE) power.

The new Hyster J230-400XD series integrates lithium-ion battery technology to provide the performance and durability required for heavy-duty operations.

The J230-400XD series offers multiple battery sizes, configurable up to 280 kilowatts, and a 350-volt architecture for energy-efficient, ICE-like performance.

With load capacities ranging from 23,000 to 40,000 pounds and compatibility with common charging infrastructure, the series supports businesses transitioning to decarbonization.

“This expanded line of high-capacity lithium-ion trucks is an example of our continued commitment to provide a practical electric solution with a competitive total cost of ownership that can be tailored to meet the needs of as many applications as possible – from lumber and metals to ports and other intense operations,” Ricky Hirani, global commercial product leader, Big Trucks, Hyster said.

“We also took steps with this series to help ease the transition for operations pursuing decarbonization. This includes a high level of commonality with equivalent diesel Hyster models, tools to help monitor and manage batteries, and compatibility with common charging infrastructure.”

Equipped with the Combined Charging System as standard, the forklifts allow cost-effective scaling for multiple applications.

An onboard Battery Management System monitors battery health, overheating and overcharging while optimizing energy efficiency.

The spacious cabin features adjustable controls for operator comfort, and regenerative braking helps extend run times between charges, reinforcing Hyster’s focus on both sustainability and productivity.
