The Steel Erectors Association of America (SEAA) has introduced two safety resources in support of annual Construction Fall Prevention events, including the release of the association’s 2025 Fall Prevention Stand-Down poster and the announcement of the winning design in its Hard Hat Sticker Contest.
Joe Brown, construction manager for Group Steel Erectors, Inc., submitted the winning sticker design. His entry followed the contest theme "Proud to Be an Ironworker."
"This design is more than an image—it’s a statement," said Brown. "It represents the grit, skill, and legacy of ironworkers. The phrase ‘Built on Steel, Est. 1972’ is a symbol of pride, tradition, and the hardworking men and women who build the future, one beam at a time."
Brown will receive a $100 gift card and 250 stickers featuring his design. SEAA will distribute the winning sticker as part of its annual Stand-Down campaign, with member companies able to purchase additional copies for their own fall prevention events.
The 2025 Fall Prevention Stand-Down poster, titled “Don’t Fall for False Security. Tie Off Right at Any Height!” highlights fall risks on construction sites, particularly from heights of 25 feet or less. SEAA cites data showing that 21.1% of fall-related fatalities occur between 11 and 15 feet—a risk often underestimated in the field.
The poster offers guidance on:
- Selecting appropriate anchor points at various heights
- Calculating free fall distance based on harness and lanyard specifications
- Recognizing factors affecting fall arrest, such as deceleration and harness stretch
- Maintaining safety margins by accounting for stored materials and fall zone obstacles
The poster is being distributed to subscribers of SEAA’s official publication, Connector, and is available for download, sponsored by Trivent Safety Consulting and SEAA’s Safety and Education Committee
"Fall prevention isn’t just about working high up—it’s about ensuring every worker, at any height, is protected," said Chris Legnon, chairman of SEAA’s Marketing Committee and vice president of technology at Cooper Steel. "By providing real-world safety insights, we aim to equip crews with the knowledge to prevent avoidable accidents."
The resources are released in conjunction with annual Fall Prevention Stand-Down events, typically held the first week of May on jobsites across the country.
