At The Rental Show, Skyjack unveiled its 85-ft. SJ85 AJ articulating rough-terrain boom lift, the largest articulating lift manufactured by the Guelph, Ontario-based company. Featuring many design elements of the SJ63 AJ, the SJ85 AJ has a 56-ft. horizontal outreach and 34-ft. up-and-over clearance to allow it to complete tasks in a number of applications.
As with Skyjack’s other articulating booms, the SJ85 AJ riser design provides SkyRiser capability, the riser design that offers true vertical rise without drifting. An open-center knuckle riser design provides SpeedyReach efficiency, enabling the lowering of the fly boom to ground level for re-stocking without lowering the riser. Operators are be able to function between maximum platform height and ground level in 60 to 70 seconds.
“Operators will definitely notice how much easier it is to get to max height and back down with the SJ85 AJ,” said Corey Connolly, product manager. “Skyjack’s riser design is what sets our new boom apart from similar machines in its class. There is no need to worry about performing multiple functions to lift the riser. The SJ85 AJ’s riser performs the same as all other Skyjack articulating booms – it goes straight up and down.”
Dual platform capacities of 750/500 lbs. and two/three personal rating provides for maximum productivity and jobsite performance.
Another benefit of the SJ85 AJ’s open-center knuckle design is its compact stowed dimensions for for transportation and reduced tailswing. The SJ85 AJ also features 360-degree continuous turret rotation, and other unique design features found only on Skyjack rough-terrain booms; EasyDrive, direction-sensing drive and steer controls regardless of turret position over chassis; and AxleDrive, an axle-based drive system for rough-terrain traction.
