Tadano is revolutionizing jobsite safety with the introduction of the AS-63HD, the first boom lift in North America to offer a 2,200-pound platform capacity.
Debuting at bauma 2025, this heavy-duty telescopic boom lift combines the reach of a boom lift with the lifting power of a rough terrain scissor lift, reducing common safety risks and increasing jobsite efficiency.
“We believe the AS-63HD is a disruptive product — one that can do work that a traditional boom or scissor lift cannot do alone,” Erik Elzinga, Tadano Americas vice president of AWP business development for Pan-America operations.
“With its 2,200-pound capacity and massive platform, it allows contractors to move workers and heavy materials simultaneously, reducing the need for multiple machines on-site.”
Enhanced Safety and Stability
A major challenge in mobile elevating work platforms is platform overloading, which can lead to shutdowns and work delays.
“Operators sometimes exceed weight limits, triggering safety shutdowns and service calls,” Elzinga said. “The AS-63HD, with its 2,200-pound capacity, virtually eliminates that concern. That’s a game-changer for productivity, efficiency and safety.”
Leveraging Tadano’s expertise in crane manufacturing, the AS-63HD is designed with a rigid crane-inspired mast and a four-section synchronized telescoping boom that ensures near-zero platform deflection.
This enhances platform stability while eliminating the need for outriggers or stabilizers, reducing setup time and increasing overall efficiency.
“Tadano has a long legacy of structural and hydraulic engineering expertise from our crane business, and we’ve applied that to this boom lift,” Elzinga said.
“It’s not just about strength — it’s about making a machine that feels solid, stable and intuitive to operate.”
Superior Maneuverability for Complex Applications
The AS-63HD features exclusive automatic four-motion control, allowing operators to position the lift in any straight-line direction.
With a maximum platform height of 62 feet 8 inches and a horizontal outreach of 37 feet, 4 inches, the boom lift provides excellent working range and 360-degree continuous platform rotation for superior overhead access without repositioning the chassis.
Its expansive platform, measuring 13 feet, 9 inches by 6 feet, 4 inches by 3 feet, 7 inches, accommodates up to 10 occupants or a combination of workers and heavy materials within its capacity limits. Ideal for steel erection, pipefitting, glazing and welding applications, the AS-63HD also includes optional generator installation packages and a 120-volt AC outlet on the platform.
“The high capacity and significant platform size eliminate the need for careful material placement, as seen with scissor lifts,” Elzinga explained.
“That simplifies job planning, enhances safety and speeds up work.”
High Performance and Jobsite Versatility
Powered by a 74.3-horsepower Kubota V3800 engine, the AS-63HD features four-wheel drive and solid tires, offering 40% gradeability with five-degree tilt control. It reaches travel speeds of up to 3 miles per hour, enabling efficient jobsite movement.
Its combination of boom and scissor lift capabilities makes it ideal for industrial construction and infrastructure projects, maximizing utilization and return on investment.
“This lift isn’t just an incremental improvement — it’s a new way of working,” Elzinga said.
“Contractors can complete heavy-duty tasks with fewer machines, reducing costs and increasing efficiency. That’s why we believe it will make a significant impact on the North American market.”
Manufactured in Japan, the AS-63HD is built for long-term durability and reliability, making it a strong choice for rental fleets and end users.
The lift will be available in the U.S. and Canada starting in the second half of 2025, with additional market expansions to follow.
