The Super Bowl of Masonry Premieres in January

Las Vegas Rocks the World of Concrete

For those in the mason and concrete industry, there is (almost) no better time of the year than January when tens of thousands of like-minded people gather in Las Vegas, Nevada to celebrate everything concrete and bricklaying at the World of Concrete (WOC).

For starters, there’s the not-to-be-missed SpecMix 500, a competition that has been a part of WOC for 22 years and pits the best of the best masons against one another for a chance to win more than $125,000 in cash and prizes, including a 2025, fully loaded 4-by-4 pickup truck.

In January 2024, Michael Schlund returned to defend his title from his 2023 win (and did) against the likes of Fred Campbell, the elder statesman who has won this contest the most and has been equated to the Tom Brady of masonry.

This year, WOC celebrated its 50th Anniversary with 60,000 of its closest friends, who trafficked the 700,000-square-foot arena, alongside 120 masons from different countries, simply to see just what new and exciting things the 1,500 exhibiting companies had to offer industry participants.

“For over 25 years, PALFINGER has been proud to be part of the World of Concrete, and we’re just as excited to return for the upcoming show. We’re looking forward to exhibiting our latest innovations, including knuckle boom cranes, truck-mounted forklifts and mechanics trucks, all designed to solve the real challenges our customers face every day,” Ismael Daneluz, PALFINGER vice president, sales and service North and Latin America said.

“It’s a great opportunity for attendees to get hands-on with our equipment and connect with our product experts, who will be there to offer personalized guidance and answer any questions.”

Registration for this monumental event is now open and promises to be just as spectacular as its last with various demonstrations and its most popular technical seminars, industry certifications, interactive workshops and training courses and forums. They include:

  • Managing concrete in hot and cold weather conditions, led by Kim Basham, PE.
  • Connecting Generations: Building Bridges Through Effective Communication and Mentoring, led by Sydne Jacques.
  • Communication Skills to Increase Your Personal Influence, led by Randy Anderson.
  • The Mentoring “Playbook”: Raising the Next Generational Workforce, led by Brad Humphrey.
  • A three-part series on concrete repair, led by Peter Emmons, Brent Anderson, Eyad Alhariri and Jay Thomas, respectively.

In addition, there will be more than 20 new session topics.

It is the industry’s only annual international conference dedicated to the commercial concrete and masonry construction industries.

The exhibit hall hours will be open from Tuesday, Jan. 21 to Thursday, Jan. 23, 9:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

It’s safe to say that WOC is the place to see and be seen if you’re in the concrete and masonry industries. We hope to see you there!
