Palfinger, Niagara Falls, Ontario, Canada, has introduced two new 20-metric-ton class models, the PK 23502 and the PK 26002-EH. The PK 23502 knuckleboom crane, capable of tilting upwards 15° degrees (Power Link Plus), enables maximum movement geometry and broadens the type of work the crane can do. The "EH" model comes equipped with the innovative HPLS technology. With E-HPLS, the crane speed can be reduced and the lifting capacity increased at the same time.
In addition, the electronic regulation of the high-end control valve allows for optimal multi-controllability, which means several crane functions can be operated simultaneously.
The PK 23502 has a maximum lifting moment of 162,030 foot-pounds and the PK 26002-EH has a lifting moment of 179,950 foot-pounds. Equipped with up to eight hydraulic boom sections, both cranes reach to 69'11" (21.3 m).
The PK 26002-EH has a streamlined appearance and greater comfort with functional design. Synthetic covers and internally routed hydraulic hoses are designed to protect sensitive crane parts against dirt and damage. As a result, they reduce service and maintenance costs and extend the life of the loading crane. Premium-quality, high-resistance synthetic materials can be used in temperatures ranging from -40°F degrees to 176°F degrees. The panels are easy to dismantle for maintenance.
According to Greg Sneek, product manager of cranes at Palfinger, these cranes are developed for applications in construction, utilities, rental fleets, and mining. Deliveries have already started, as several customers were looking for a crane in this lifting class, added Sneek.
Palfinger’s extensive use of high quality steels allows for increased crane capacity without an increase in crane weight, which provides customers the option to increase crane capacity without affecting the overall GVW. Palfinger plans to introduce more models in fourth quarter of 2011 and first quarter of 2012, reported Sneek.
