Sauer-Danfoss, Nordborg, Denmark, has developed the first load-sensing valve in its portfolio for the low-flow segment. The PVG 16 facilitates the integration of load-sensing system design and electro-hydraulic actuator technology, bringing high productivity, lower total system costs, and easier fulfillment of emissions and safety regulations.
Based on proven PVG technology and components, the PVG 16 is rated for a flow of up to 17.2 gpm and work port pressure of up to 5,800 psi. Municipal vehicles, agricultural equipment, small cranes and construction machinery are among the key applications.
“The higher efficiency required of hydraulic equipment in response to emissions and functional safety requirements has highlighted a need for advanced system design and performance,” says Morten Clausen, PVG product marketing manager. “As a result, there is a clear trend towards using load-sensing spool valves that are more durable, energy-efficient, controllable and safe.”
PVG 16 is the next step in the PVG technology platform. Along with its modular design, the valve makes use of established building blocks in the PVG design toolbox.
For example, the pump inlet module and endplate are identical to those of the PVG 32, preparing the PVG 16 for seamless integration in customized valve stacks, accommodating everything from simple to complex functionalities.
The use of proven PVG technology and components ensures high-level quality and robustness. Through this application of existing know-how and flexibility, Sauer-Danfoss contributes to a new standard for customized machine system design and robust OEM production.
“From a cost and efficiency point of view, there is a need to build valve stacks that mirror the individual flow requirements of each function on a machine," Clausen said. "The modularity of the low-flow PVG 16 enables these requirements to be even more precisely matched than before."
Electrohydraulic Platform
A new actuator, the PVE Series 6, provides the valve with its electro-hydraulic platform. Incorporating a micro-controller for closed loop control, the actuator delivers excellent spool control and built-in fault monitoring. High tolerance towards temperature variations ensures a robust, reliable valve performance in all conditions.
