ALL Erection and Crane Rental Corp. Opens Doors for Appraiser Conference

The ALL Erection & Crane Rental Corp., Cleveland, Ohio, hosted a tour of its  40-acre service and repair facilities last month on the opening day of the American Society of Appraisers  conference. ALL Crane’s president, Michael Liptak, also was the keynote speaker at the conference, which was held June 7-8 at the Hyatt Regency hotel in downtown Cleveland.

The ASA conference attracted appraisers and lenders from all over the country, and speakers shared tips on assessing values of heavy equipment of all kinds. Liptak’s keynote address focused on how to help ensure accuracy when assessing the values of cranes, particularly given the wide variety of manufacturers and crane types. He stressed that how the crane is equipped can have a dramatic affect on its value.

The company tour had specifically highlighted service and showed off ALL’s vertical integration as it relates to maintaining its industry-leading fleet, and Liptak’s presentation tied back to that theme. Principally, he said, strict maintenance protocols, deep repair acumen, and careful record-keeping are some of the most critical determining factors when valuing cranes of the same make, model, and year. The presentation also shed light on market conditions, including geographic variability, and notes on emerging trends as the world economy continues to thaw.

“We worked to present our main yard in Cleveland as a microcosm of what customers can expect from our branches throughout North America, knowing that our ‘service matters’ message would be received well and appreciated by appraisers, too,” Liptak said. “I just wanted to be sure that the attendees appreciated that cranes are complicated machines and that they need to be studied to produce an accurate appraisal. I welcomed the opportunity to share what we’ve learned over three generations here at ALL.”
