Crane Inspection & Certification Bureau, Orlando, Fla., will introduce an internet-based employee assessment service at ConExpo 2008. The OnLine Assessment for Employees and Potential Employees involved in crane and rigging operations uses internet-based multiple choice quizzes to provide employers with information needed to evaluate potential or existing employees' knowledge of industry standards, regulations and best practices.
The assessment is built from a database of questions divided into 17 categories covering topics such as load charts, communications, and planning. Questions are presented in random order, 10 questions at a time. Test takers have the option of reviewing their answers at the completion of the test.
Random presentation of questions is intended to reduce the possibility of cheating, and for additional security, the test can be administered in a proctored environment at the employer's facility. An administration tool shows individual scores and the length of time it took the person to complete. With results broken down by category, strong and weak knowledge areas can be revealed.
