Danfoss now offers options that expand the usefulness of its reverse-displacement hydraulic motor (RDM), which it introduced last year (see story on LiftandAccess.com). The open circuit piston motor can reverse direction without external valves, which makes it an excellent solution for mobile equipment.
The new product options let the RDM meet unique needs of individual customers. The RDM can reduce power requirements by 10%, cut total system cost by 15%, and reduced system complexity.
The new control and displacement options give users more functionality. The added options include displacements of 38cc and 45cc, Speed Sensor, and 24V valve.
The new increased displacements meet the needs of larger machines. The new speed-sensor option provides more precise system efficiency control. And the 24V valve accommodates additional machine electric architectures.
The Danfoss RDM features a 12V or 24V integrated proportional shifting valve can smoothly reverse on the go using system pressure. The RDM's design eliminates the external valves and pressure supply typically needed for reversing and eliminates their related costs and pressure losses.
As previously announced, the RDM complements the Danfoss Series 45 open-circuit axial piston pumps, PLUS+1 microcontrollers, and DP700 PLUS+1 mobile machine displays. Itis ideal for fan drives in Tier 4 construction, forestry, and agricultural machinery.
The RDM's ability to reverse lets a fan purge trapped dirt and debris, restoring cooling efficiency. Danfoss fan drive packages including the RDM can be tuned to meet the unique cooling requirements of Tier 4 equipment.
“At Danfoss, we’re dedicated to being our OEM’s strongest partner in mobile hydraulics,” said John Heller, Product Marketing Manager at Danfoss Power Solutions. “We know OEMs depend on our expertise, and we’re pleased to offer a variety of options for the RDM, so each customer’s specific needs are met.”
