Electric Utility Fleet Managers Conference Sets Topics | Construction News

The management of the Electric Utility Fleet Managers Conference (EUFMC) has announced the topics of presentations planned for the 62nd annual EUFMC, which will be held May 31- June 3, 2015, at the Williamsburg Lodge and Convention Center, Williamsburg, Va.

This year's theme is "Fleet Strategies to Maximize Total Company Performance," around which the EUFMC board of directors has developed a comprehensive educational program. The program's contents are based on surveys and input from attendees. The program is designed to address the informational needs of new and experienced fleet professionals.

The 2015 General Session speakers include fleet executives, industry experts, and supplier representatives. Confirmed topics and speakers for the 2015 EUFMC include:

  • Fleet Electrification: Updates from Edison Electric Institute and the Electric Power Research Institute plus actual results and experiences from fleet users
  • Regulatory and Legislative Update
  • Utility Best Practices Panel: Three utilities describe the value that telematics bring in the areas of fleet management and maintenance, work management for electric operations, and risk management
  • Fleet Standards for Aerial Equipment: How utilities make effective specification choices that vary from generic to extremely custom
  • Financing Your Fleet: Funding Alternatives and distributing cost to user departments
  • Distracted driving from a legal point of view: James B. Hood, Partner, The Hood Law Firm

Jim Piro, president and chief executive officer of Portland General Electric (PGE), will deliver the keynote address based on 38 years of experience in the utility business, his role on the board of the Edison Electric Institute, his membership in the Electrification Coalition, a national group of business leaders advocating for policies that support electric vehicles.

Networking opportunities

In 2014, EUFMC set a new attendance record by bringing together 109 fleet representatives from investor-owned electric utilities, electric cooperatives and electrical contractors, and welcomed 32 first-time fleet attendees.

Roundtables at EUFMC address common challenges by allowing fleet executives to share best practices and to work with suppliers to find solutions. Discussion topics are determined based on member surveys.

More than 250 representatives from more than 100 manufacturers and service providers attend EUFMC and participate in a drive-through utility equipment demonstration and an equipment show that is the site of more than 60 displays.
