The 2011 Electric Utility Fleet Managers Conference (EUFMC) will take place from June 19 through 22 at the Williamsburg Lodge and Conference Center in Williamsburg, Va. Conference organizers expect that more than 100 fleet managers from electrical utilities across North America will attend this year’s conference for a combination of education and networking.
The conference is also expected to draw nearly 300 representatives from more than 90 companies that supply equipment and services to electrical fleets across the U.S. and Canada.
Events planned for the four days include educational sessions; roundtable discussions; exhibits and demonstrations by equipment, supply, and service providers; and social networking events. EUFMC representatives say that the full range of technical sessions is targeted to meet the needs of utility fleet managers, with presentations by fleet managers, suppliers, and other industry experts addressing “focused strategies for future success.”
EUFMC communications director Seth Skydel says that last year’s conference drew a record 100 fleet managers representing more than 50 investor-owned electric utilities in the United States, Canada, and South America, as well as more than 20 electric cooperatives and contractors. He says that, collectively, the companies represented by conference attendees spend more than $13 billion annually on fuel, parts, and labor; operate more than 275,000 vehicles, including nearly 70,000 trucks, 35,000 bucket trucks, and 27,500 service trucks; and employ about 4,000 service technicians in their maintenance operations.
Registration for the conference is now open. Information about the educational agenda, networking events, exhibiting, registration, and lodging can be found at the conference website.
