G&W Equipment, Inc., based in Charlotte, N.C., has purchased the forklift and material handling business of Piedmont Forklift, Inc. of Greenville, S.C. and the Upstate area of South Carolina and the Augusta, GA markets. Piedmont Forklift has been a distributor and service company for Clark Forklifts, Doosan Forklifts and many other material handling products for the past 56 years.
G&W will base its South Carolina operations out of the current Piedmont Forklift facility in Greenville, according to Michael Sabbagh, president, and will use the location to grow the combined business. This new Greenville, S.C. operation will perform business under the name of G&W Piedmont Forklift, and Jeff Bradley will serve as branch manager.
Retiring owners/executives Jerry Prince and Calvin Bostic will stay on with G&W Piedmont Forklift for a brief period of time, to ensure a smooth transition before moving on to other ventures in the Greenville area.
