Kassbohrer Buys Soft Track Supply | Construction News

Kässbohrer All Terrain Vehicles Inc. (KATV), Reno, Nev., has purchased Soft Track Supply Inc., a Cartersville, Ga., manufacturer that makes custom, high-payload, low-ground-pressure, all-terrain tracked carriers that can operate in the most demanding conditions. Soft Track Supply has been manufacturing tracked vehicles since 1989, and has earned a reputation for dependability and functional, straight forward design.

Adding Soft Track Supply, substantially strengthens Kässbohrer's position in the utility market.

Kässbohrer has renamed the Soft Track Supply line of carriers as "PowerBully" products. The rugged tool carriers are rugged mobile platforms for telescopic or knuckleboom cranes, aerial lifts, digger derricks, and backhoes. Applications  include constructing and maintaining gas and oil pipelines, power lines, telephone lines; fire control; soil testing; mulching; and many other uses.

The newly acquired heavy-duty PowerBully range of carriers complements Kässbohrer's existing "PistinBully" line of utility vehicles, which are made for grooming ski slopes, Nordic trail networks, and snowmobile trails, and special-purpose applications.

The PistinBully portfolio includes the innovative fleet- and slope-management "SNOWsat," which not only collects and analyzes operating data, but is also a navigational tool and determines snow depth, too.

BeachTech beach-cleaning machines, PistenBully GreenTech, and the PistenBully Scout round out the special-purpose vehicle sector.

The PowerBully line has four standard models with payload capacities from 6,000 lbs. to 33,000 lbs. while crossing almost any terrain with minimal environmental impact.

A PowerBully can be built to individual customer specifications, with options such as hydrostatic or mechanical drive, enclosed or open mesh cabs, steel crosslinks or urethane track pads, and various steering controls.

The PowerBully vehicles will continue to be manufactured in Georgia, where a long-standing member of the KATV team will manage operations. Sales and service support will be handled by Kässbohrer's established sales and service network of more than 130 service locations and agencies in 68 countries and Antarctica.
