Manitowoc Crane Group plans to lay off an additional 450 employees at its Shady Grove, Pa., plant. The Herald-Mail reports that terminated individuals will be notified tomorrow, which will be their last day. It is reported that 430 production and 20 salaried line management employees will be let go.
This round of layoffs at the company follows a cut of 315 jobs last month at the facility. At that time, Dennis Rooney, vice president of human resources, told Lift and Access that no more layoffs were anticipated, but Rooney told the Herald-Mail this week that the market for mobile cranes has worsened since January.
