The Material Handling Industry of America (MHIA) is launching a new event beginning in 2012. MODEX 2012 will showcase equipment and systems solutions, as well as learning opportunities that span the entire supply chain—from material handling and logistics across manufacturing, assembly to distribution. The show's will debut Feb. 6-9, 2012, and will be held at the Georgia World Congress Center in Atlanta, Ga.
At its core, MODEX 2012 will include a similar material-handling and logistics profile as ProMat, which will take place next March in Chicago. However, MODEX also will incorporate a broader array of technology, services, and educational offerings that serve the overall supply chain.
MHIA strategically chose Atlanta as the location of MODEX 2012 to take advantage of what it sees as an emerging gateway to American supply chains. Today, more than 40 percent of manufacturing and distribution operations in the United States are located within 500 miles of Atlanta, which makes the Southeast one of the strongest industrial markets in the Americas. With the upcoming Panama Canal expansion in 2014, supply chain experts say 25 percent of imports currently moving through the West Coast will shift to the East Coast. MHIA notes it has positioned the event to help exhibitors and attendees capitalize on the new dynamics.
MHIA anticipates 500 exhibitors and tens of thousands of manufacturing, distribution and supply chain professionals from more than 80 countries around the globe to attend MODEX 2012. MHIA will expand its plans to partner with other industry groups via co-location at MODEX to provide attendees even more exhibition, educational, and networking value.
An informational webinar on MODEX will take place on September 21 at 1:00 PM EST. Click here to learn more and register for this event.
