Governor Edward Rendell yesterday signed 31bills into law, including one bill related to the operation of cranes.
House Bill 647 establishes the Crane Operator Licensure Act and establishes a seven-member State Board of Crane Operators to oversee licensure and discipline of crane operators. Under the new law, no person may operate a crane or present themselves for employment as a crane operator without being licensed by the board; nor shall a business employ an individual to operate a crane unless he or she is licensed.
