Fatalities caused by falls from elevation continue to be a leading cause of death for construction workers, accounting for 269 of the 775 construction fatalities recorded in 2012. According to Scott Owyen, Global Training Manager, Terex Aerial Work Platforms (AWP), those deaths could have been prevented.
In this SAF-T Conference presentation, Owyen provides critical steps that aerial work platform operators can take to reduce the likelihood of a potential deadly fall from height. Among these tips are proper training and familiarization, performing pre-operation inspections and function tests before each shift, assessing the workplace for risks, and more.
