Four Alimak construction hoists are being used by general contractor Sera Yapi Construction for access at Emaar Square, one of Turkey's largest private developments. The hoists are working in conjunction with 14 tower cranes to supply all the lifting needs.
The new development is set in Camlica, on the Asian side of Istanbul, and will include seven high-rise towers, a five-star hotel, residential and business units, a shopping mall, an amusement park, an ice rink, a 2,400-seat cinema complex, and a six-level underground carpark.
The four Alimak hoists are all Scando 450 units, designed for materials and personnel, and can lift a maximum load of 2 t to a height of 150 m.
“We have fixed all four Alimak hoists to the side of the excavation, where the entrance is located, ” said Aydin, project coordinator for Sepi Yapi. “The prime use for the hoists is personnel transportation; when the foundation work is complete we shall redeploy the hoists to the exterior of four of the medium-rise structures, where they will be used for both personnel and materials."
Emaar Square will be completed over several phases between 2015 and 2017.
