Custom Equipment has recently improved its low-level Hy-Brid HB-830 scissor. The 500-lb. capacity lift now has a longer platform that enables maintenance crews and contractors more space for tools and materials, reducing the number of trips up and down to reload the lift. The lightweight unit that has a working up to 14 ft. also features a zero turn radius for maneuverability in confined spaces.
The HB-830’s platform is 25.5" x 55.75" – nearly 9 ins. longer than the original model, and accommodating two people at a time. It also features a 30-in. slide-out extension for even more space. The extension has a capacity of 250 lbs. and is supported by the lift’s midrail, which eliminates jamming associated with traditional rollers.
The HB-830 unit features dual front wheels that help distribute the machine’s weight and provide lower wheel loads. Paired with its lightweight design, the unit is able to work on delicate flooring, including tile, laminate, raised floors and mezzanines, with much lower potential for damage. Users also can get onto poured concrete several days sooner with the HB-830 than with heavier models.
In addition, the counter-rotating wheels reduce friction so users can maneuver over tile or carpeting without marking or causing tears. Custom Equipment also designed the unit with rounded corners to minimize inadvertent damage to walls.
The HB-830’s completely self-contained hydraulic system has only two connection points, so it is a clean system for operating indoors in both finished and unfinished environments. This reduces the potential for hydraulic fluid leaks, which lead to floor damage and potential safety hazards.
The HB-830’s platform is operated up and down by the unit’s hydraulics, while the electrical drive and steering systems are powered by two 12-volt, deep-cycle batteries. Since the systems are electrical rather than hydraulic, they draw fewer amps and require less overall power.
The HB-830 is equipped with a tilt sensor that alerts operators if loads become unbalanced so they can make adjustments and minimize the risk of tipping.
The HB-830 has an entry height of 18 ins and features an access gate that swings completely open so users can step up and onto the platform. Additionally, the HB-830 lift is easy to maintain. It features an on-board battery charger that self monitors the current and stops it once the battery is fully charged. This provides a distinct advantage over non-monitoring systems that continue to feed the current into fully charged batteries, which can shorten their life and cause them to burn out.
