IPAF Dec. 14 Webinar will Address MEWP Modifications

On Dec. 14, 2021, IPAF will present a webinar about modifying MEWPs.

Modifying machines can be a controversial topic that conjures a multitude of questions, complexities, and implications.

MEWP modifications are generally taboo, yet they are made frequently. This issue became a topic of debate in the U.S. in recent years during development of industry standards. The norm is to never modify a MEWP without prior written approval from its manufacturer, yet MEWP users often make changes to the MEWP to address a site need, and secondary suppliers offer to add accessories.

A panel of presenters will examine what is currently happening in the market, what should be happening, and, most importantly, how we can all best align these practices for safe and effective fleet management.

The panelists will debate the answers to these questions:

  • Why are MEWPs being modified?
  • Do MEWP users understand the impact of modifications?
  • Could you be modifying your MEWP without realizing it? And what exactly are your risks and responsibilities?
  • When does necessity drive change?

Speakers:

  • Rob Cavaleri, Safety & Compliance Manager (Manlift Middle East)
  • Jim Waldron, Product Safety Manager (Skyjack UK)
  • TJ Lyons, Safety Manager (DPR Construction, US)
  • Tony Groat, North America Regional Manager (IPAF)
  • Hosted by Brian Park, Head of Safety & Technical (IPAF)

The webinar starts at 12:00 noon, U.K. time (7:00 a.m. in New York, 6:00 a.m. in Chicago, 5:00 a.m. in Denver, and 4:00 a.m. in San Francisco).

It will be broadcast via Zoom and will be in English, featuring simultaneous translation in Spanish, Portuguese, Dutch, German, French, Italian, Chinese, and Korean.

Simultaneous translation is only available when watching live, using the free Zoom desktop or mobile app. It will not be available if you watch using your web browser.

Please note simultaneous translation is provided subject to demand. IPAF reserves the right to cancel this feature if minimum numbers are not met.
