Details: The second IPAF US Convention will be held on Oct. 22 and 23, 2012, in Celebration, Fla. This member event is also open to non-members. This year's focus is on aerial work platform (AWP) management responsibilities. Topics to be covered will range from buying used equipment, to owner responsibility, to updates on theANSI standards. Details: The Scaffold & Access Industry Association will hold its regional meeting at the Bohemian Hotel in Celebration. During the meeting, two educational sessions will take place. Robert Segal from ENSA will present "Work at Height--Rescue Plans," which will discuss suspended scaffold and platform "rescue plans" that can be simplified by breaking them into different processes in order to achieve compliant programs. This presentation will demonstrate how being "ultra specific" with rescue training can produce a more effective outcome. Efficient rescue practices will be demonstrated, and new information on suspension trauma will be presented.
Additionally, SAIA and Lift and Access will hold a joint panel discussion entitled "Working at Height--What Does a General Contractor Expect of Subcontractors?" During this session, attendees will get the general contractor’s point of view of Working at Height. Turner Construction, Performance Contracting, Parsons, Lend Lease, and others will participate in the panel discussion, answer questions, and give attendees a glimpse of what might be coming in the near future with regard to working at height.
