Linamar Corporation’s (TSX: LNR) Skyjack division showcased its new SJ1256 TH telehandler, along with its range of simply reliable mobile elevating work platforms during World of Concrete in Las Vegas, Nevada.
“This year’s World of Concrete was a great opportunity for us to show our competitive edge in the telehandler industry,” said Barry Greenaway, senior product manager, Skyjack. “We are excited to introduce the SJ1256 TH, which brings Skyjack’s class-leading load chart performance to the 12,000-lb lifting capacity market.”
Based heavily on the SJ1056 TH, the SJ1256 TH shares 70% commonality of parts, as well as the layout and easy maintenance features with the TH series that customers love, and is ideal for heavier-duty applications like on oil and gas job sites.
Besides a maximum lift capacity of 12,000 lbs (5,443 kg), which it can lift to a height of 35 ft (10.67 m) with outriggers deployed, the SJ1256 TH can also lift 1,000 lbs (454 kg) at maximum forward reach of 42.6 ft (12.95 m) without deploying outriggers, which most similar machines are not capable of.
“Staying true to Skyjack’s Simply Reliable philosophy, the SJ1256 TH shares the same control systems, mechanical, electrical and hydraulic layout with Skyjack’s TH range, which ensures instant familiarization for operators of other TH units,” Greenaway said.
Designed with customers in mind
In addition to the SJ1256 TH, Skyjack also displayed two other telehandlers and two scissor lifts at booth C5461.
Like other telehandlers in the TH range, both the SJ843 TH and SJ1056 TH are powered by a Tier-IV final 74-hp engine and are engineered to require no diesel particulate filter, no diesel exhaust fluid and no other active exhaust after treatment. The TH series features simpler rear axle stabilization on SJ1044 TH and SJ1056 TH, hydraulics, outriggers, controls, engine servicing and is ideal for use in the concrete and masonry industries.
Skyjack’s TH series offers unique Skyjack features like FLEXCAB that allows fleet operators to easily convert between open and enclosed cabs with simple hand tools; and READYHOOK, Skyjack’s yoke mounted lifting hook that is fitted as standard and has capacities that match the maximum lift capability of the telehandler. READYHOOK allows the appropriate under-slinging of loads and avoids the practice of using the forks as an underslung lifting device.
The SJ843 TH has a flexible control and drive system that allows easy operation. It features 8,000 lbs (3,632 kg) maximum lift capacity, 6,000 lbs (2,722 kg) lift capacity at maximum lift height of 43.4 ft (13.23 m) and 1,900 lbs (862 kg) lift capacity at maximum reach of 28.9 ft (8.8 m).
With the SJ1056 TH, Skyjack redefined what a 10,000-lb class machine is capable of by leveraging the strength and simplicity of the TH series design. The SJ1056 TH has a maximum lift capacity of 10,000 lbs (4,540 kg) that it can place to a class leading height of 44 ft (13.4 m), 6,000 lbs (2,722 kg) lift capacity at maximum lift height of 56.3 ft (17.1 m) and 3,000 lbs (1361 kg) lift capacity at maximum forward reach of 41.5 ft (12.7 m).
Skyjack also exhibited the SJIII 3219 electric scissor lift and the SJ6832 RT rough terrain scissor lift, both drivable at full height. The SJIII 3219 features a maximum weight capacity of 550 lbs. (259 kg) and a working height of 25 ft. (7.62 m). To help operator navigate through tight spaces, the unit offers 90° steering and zero inside turning radius.
Designed for challenging jobsites, the SJ6832 RT features has a maximum weight capacity of 1,000 lbs. (454 kg), a maximum platform height of 32 ft. (11.75 m) and up to 40% gradability.
“It was great to see both existing and new customers at World of Concrete and introduce them to our new SJ1256 TH,” Greenaway said.
