Altec, a third-generation family-owned business founded by Lee Styslinger in 1929, has named Jon Styslinger as its chairman. He joined Altec in 1985 and was President and Chief Operating Officer from 2010 - 2021.
“As Altec continues to grow and our leadership team evolves, I am stepping into the Chairman’s role to support our succession planning efforts. I am honored to serve Altec and our family in this role,” Styslinger commented.
Styslinger graduated from Brown University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering in 1985. He joined Altec upon his graduation and has had deep and broad experience in the organization over his 30+ year career. For much of his career, he lived in Kansas City, Missouri, near Altec’s largest manufacturing facility located in St. Joseph, Missouri. While in Kansas City, he served on several non-profit boards and was involved with numerous community outreach programs.
Styslinger is on the board of Jemison Investments, a Birmingham based privately held firm, and serves as a Director of the Altec / Styslinger Foundation, whose purpose is to improve the welfare and quality of life in those communities where Altec associates live and work. The Foundation prioritizes gifts in the areas of community assets and civic needs, education and workforce development and health care.
